Rule:
i before e, except after c
or when sounded like "ay"
as in neighbor and weigh
drop this rule when -c sounds as -sh
Examples:
IE words: believe, field, relief
CEI words: ceiling, deceit, receive
EI words: freight, reign, sleigh
Exceptions:
EI words: either, neither, foreign, height, leisure, protein, weird, neither, sovereign, seized, counterfeit, forfeited
CIEN words: science, ancient, efficient (in these words, -c is pronounced -sh)
