| When adding 'ing' to a word with an 'e' at the end, we drop the 'e' if the 'e' is silent.
Examples: Directions: In the following words, think about the base or root word, and see if it has a silent 'e' in the end. If so, the silent 'e' was dropped when 'ing' was added. Use all the words from the answer choices in sentences. As a homework, find at least ten more words with the suffix 'ing' that had their 'e' dropped. |
