Comparing with Adjectives: Positive - Comparative - Superlative

There are three types of adjectives: Positive, Comparative, and Superlative.

Comparatives are forms of adjectives or adverbs used to compare two different things. With adjectives you add er to the end to make a comparative. If the adjective ends in y, drop the y and add ier.
Examples:
Adjective - Comparative
tall - taller
easy - easier

Adverb - Comparative
quickly - more quickly
softly - more softly

Superlative form is used to compare three or more people or objects.
Examples:
better - best
worse - worst
