9 x 9 = 81 < 82 & 9 x 10 = 90 > 82 Therefore take 9 x 9 = 81
82 - 81 = 1
The quotient is 9 and Remainder is 1.
Answer: 9R1

Example: 25/3
Try the multiples of 3=> 3 x 8 = 24 < 25 & 3 x 9 = 27 > 25
Take 3 x 8 = 24, put 8 in the quotient and 24 under 25.
25 - 24 = 1
The quotient is 8 and Remainder is 1.
Answer: 8R1
