Metric system is all based on powers of ten. So to remember the metric units:
King Henry Died Drinking Chocolate Milk
Kilo Hecto Deca Deci Centi Milli

10 mm = 1 cm
100 cm = 1 m
1000 m = 1 km

Example: 2 m = ___ mm
1 m = 1000 mm
Hence 2 m = 2 x 1000
Answer: 2000 mm
