Grade 5 - Mathematics
8.6 Finding the Area/Perimeter of Triangles

If a triangle has a base b units and height of h units, then
The area A is 1/2 base x height.
The perimeter is the sum of lengths of all the three sides side1 + side2 + side3.

A = 1/2 (b x h)
P = a + b + c

Example:
A triangle has a base of 3 ft and height of 5 ft. Find the area of the triangle.
Area of triangle = (b x h) / 2
Substituting the values b = 3 and height = 5
(3 x 5)/2 = 15/2
Answer: 7.5 square feet
Note: The units of area are square feet or ft2.

Directions: Find the area for the following questions. Also write at least 5 examples of your own.
