3.29 Finding the Area/Perimeter of Parallelogram

If a parallelogram has a base of b units, and a height of h units, then:
The area A is product of its base and the corresponding height: Area = base x height
The perimeter of parallelogram is the sum of the lengths all its sides: P = b + h + b + h .

A = bh
P = 2b + 2h = 2(b + h)

Find the area and perimeter of parallelogram whose base is 9 inches and height is 12 inches.
Area of parallelogram = b x h
=9 x 12
= 108 square inches
Perimeter of parallelogram = 2(b + h)
= 2(9 + 12)
= 2(21)
=42 inches
Area is 108 square inches. Perimeter is 42 inches.

Directions: Find the area of the parallelogram. Also draw a parallelogram and write at least 5 examples of your own.
