Grade 5 - Mathematics 7.15 Finding the Areas/Perimeters of Shapes
Perimeter is defined as the distance around a figure.
Perimeter of a rectangle is 2(l+w) units, where l is the length and w is the width.
Perimeter of a square is 4a units where a is the length of the side.
Area of rectangle is l x w sq units.
Area of square is a x a sq units.
The space occupied by an object is called volume.
Volume of a cube is l x b x h cubic units.
Example: What is the area of room that measures 4 ft. by 7 ft. ?
Area = 4 x 7 Answer: 28 sq. ft Directions: Answer the following questions. Also draw the figures and write at least ten examples of your own.
