4.16 Quadrilaterals

  1. Polygons that have four sides are called quadrilaterals.
  2. Type of Quadrilaterals: square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, kite, trapezoid.
  3. Parallelograms have two pairs of parallel sides.
  4. In a quadrilateral, the line segment joining opposite vertices is called a diagonal.
  5. Rectangles and squares are special kinds of parallelograms.
  6. Rectangles have opposite sides parallel and equal.
  7. Squares have all sides equal.
  8. A quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel lines is called trapezoid.
  9. A rhombus is a quadrilateral, with all sides equal, but unequal diagonals.
