MEAP Preparation - Grade 5 Mathematics
1.3 Dividing Decimals by 10

Method:
  1. Read the questions carefully.
  2. While dividing decimals by 10, we move one decimal place to the left.
  3. If the number of digit(s) at the left of decimal point of the dividend are not sufficient, we put the required number of zeros to get the quotient.
Example: 0.81/10
Shift one decimal point to the left
Answer: 0.081

Thus, we can get quotient even orally as:
103.5 10 = 10.35
0.52 10 = 0.052
2184.6 10 = 218.46
13.07 10 = 1.307
2.5 10 = 0.25
.005 10 = 0.0005
