Rules for Divisibility |
A whole number is divisible by 2 |
if it is even number that is if it has 0, 2, 4,
6, 8 in ones place. |
A whole number is divisible by 3 |
if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3. |
A whole number is divisible by 4 |
if the number formed by the last two digits is
divisible by 4. |
A whole number is divisible by 5 |
if the number contains 5 or 0 in the ones place. |
A whole number is divisible by 6
| if the number is divisible by 2 and 3 |
A whole number is divisible by 7 |
if the number in the ones place is doubled and
this is subtracted from the remaining numbers, the result has to be a
multiple of 7 |
A whole number is divisible by 8 |
if the numbers formed by the last three digits
is divisible by 8. |
A whole number is divisible by 9 |
if the sum of the digits is divisible by 9. |
A whole number is divisible by 10 |
if the number has 0 in ones place. |
A whole number is divisible by 11 |
if the difference of the numbers obtained on
adding the alternate digits of the numbers separately is divisible by 11. |
