
Negative exponents mean that instead of multiplying that many of the base numbers
together, you divide them. For instance, 5^2 = 5*5; on the other hand, 5^2 = (1/5)*(1/5).
In other words, if the exponent of a base is negative, it is equivalent to the positive exponent of the reciprocal of the base.
