2.53 Pronouns as Subjects

A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. The pronouns, 'I, we, he, she, it, you and they', can be the subjects of a sentence.
Examples:
I go to school eveyday.
You need to study hard.
She sings well.

A pronoun must be singular if the noun it replaces is singular. He, she and it are singular pronouns.
Example: Ron practiced playing basketball. He plays well.

A pronoun must be plural if the noun it replaces is plural. We and they are plural pronouns.
Example: Greg and I go to school. We ride together.

You is both singular and plural.
Example: The students were very excited. They were going to a fieldtrip.
