If four numbers are in proportion then
The product of extremes = The product of means

That is, if a:b = c:d, then axd = bxc.

Example: 2:5 = 10:25 -- Is this proportion correct?
Product of extremes = 2 x 25 = 50.
Product of means = 5 x 10 = 50.
Since, Product of extremes = Products of means, the numbers 2:5 = 10:25 are in proportion.
