 To find 50% of a number, find half of that number. To find 25% of a number, find one quarter of that number. To find 10% of a number, divide the number by ten. Examples: 50% of 50 is 25 50% of 60 is 30 50% of 200 is 100 50% of 12 is 6 25% of 40 is 10 25% of 16 is 4 25% of 100 is 25 25% of 240 is 60 10% of 10 is 1 10% of 20 is 2 10% of 30 is 3 10% of 100 is 10 Note the following relationships between percentages and fractions: 100% = 1 whole 50% = 1/2 = one half 25% = 1/4 = one quarter 10% = 1/10 You can use the above facts to solve problems involving other percentages. Examples: Since 10% of 120 is 12, 30% of 120 is 3 x 12 (3 times 12) = 36 Since 25% of 100 is 25, then 75% of 100 is 3 x 25 (3 times 25) = 75 Directions: Answer the following questions.
