Grade 7 - Mathematics
6.10 Writing Mixed Recurring Decimal into Rational Number Form - II

Example: Convert 0.5637 into a rational number form.
Solution: Let x = 0.5637 .......I
There are two digit in the non-recurring part and two digits in the recurring part of the decimal. Hence multiplying both sides equation I by 102+2 = 104 = 10000. We get,
10000x = 5637.37.....II
There are two digit in the non-recurring part of the decimal. Hence multiplying both sides of equation I by 100 we get,
100x = 56.3737.....III
Subtracting III from II, we get
9900x = 5581
x = 5581/9900
