3.14 Rounding-Nearest Hundred

Method:
  1. Read the numbers given.
  2. If the number in tens place is 5 or greater than 5, then the number is increased to the nearest hundreds.
  3. If the number in tens place is a number less than 5, then it is reduced to the nearest hundreds.
Example: Round 346 to the nearest hundred.
Since the number in tens place is 4, the number is reduced to the nearest hundreds.
Answer: 340

Example: Round 383 to the nearest hundred.
Since the number in tens place is 8, the number is increased to nearest hundreds.
Answer: 400

Example: Round 638 to the nearest hundred.

Answer: 600
