| A group of words that makes complete sense is called a sentence.
Examples:
There are four kinds of sentences: 1. An assertive sentence is a sentence that states a fact. Such sentences are simple statements. They state, assert or declare something.
Examples: 2. An imperative sentence gives a command, makes a request, or express a wish.
Examples: 3. An exclamatory sentence expresses sudden and strong feelings, such as surprise, wonder, pity, sympathy, happiness or gratitude.
Examples: 4. An interrogative sentence asks a question.
Examples: Directions: Select the type of sentence shown in each question. Write five examples for each of the four sentence types. As a homework, read a book and find five examples of each type of sentence; and write them on a sheet of paper. |
