- Write the numerator as the number without the decimal point.
- If there is one number after the decimal point, then the denominator is 10.
- If there are two numbers after the decimal point, then the denominator is 100.
- If there are three numbers after the decimal point, then the denominator is 1000 and so on.
Example: .04
Since there are two numbers after the decimal point, the denominator is 100.
Answer: 4/100
Example: 1.4
Since there is one number after the decimal point, the denominator is 10.
Answer: 14/10
Example: 12.345
Since there are three numbers after the decimal point, the denominator is 1000.
Answer:12,345/1000
